Empress Skirt

I have been so interested in the pattern (texture???) of Lalipopcrochet’s Empress skirt since the pattern came out last June. This pattern has slowly been making its way up my crochet queue since that time and I’m happy to say it finally made it to the top! My color choice was inspired by bella_luna_designs’ version using a rainbow striping yarn and black. I wanted something purply and went with Red Heart Grape Fizz after an interesting trip to Joann’s (spoiler alert: Red Heart appeared to be having some dye lot issues even though they don’t use those - so many yarns looked pastel compared to usual).

The pattern was pretty easy to follow along with and worked up in less than two weeks total. There were some issues with sizing (which is a me problem due to my tight crocheting and overcompensating in an attempt to fix that), but I managed to get it mostly figured out. I love this mosaic pattern so much that I’m considering figuring out how to do this not in the round so I can make some placemats.
