Cat Hammocks

One of the nice things I’ve realized about staying home is all the extra time I’m getting to spend with the cats, particularly Cali. She “goes to work” with me every morning (aka “knocks” on the office door until I let her in so she can sit directly in front of me on my desk until I brush her). I suppose this makes her my feline supervisor - though she does most of her supervising with her eyes closed, but I guess that’s the life of a house cat.

We recently saw a cat hammock that attaches to the window with suction cups and thought that would be a nice addition to our office for Cali since she spends all day with us. Jeff ordered one online and quickly installed it when it arrived.

Cali thinks the hammock is ok, but still prefers her box of crinkle paper. Pog is the one that really digs the hammock. He’s basically learned to jet in the office door when it opens and hop straight onto the hammock to roll around. He’s generally not allowed in the office because he chews anything he can find made of plastic, but he’s slowly learned that if he doesn’t leave the cat hammock he can stay in the room with us. Baz has been curious about the hammock, but doesn’t choose to spend too much time in the office.

We ended up getting another hammock for the window in the dining room since Baz really enjoys spending his mornings there watching “kitty tv” (aka birds/squirrels/whatever there is to see in the yard). Both Pog and Baz enjoy using it with the added bonus that it’s high enough that they can see when we sit at the dining room table (which helps prevent them from doing naughty things to explore). This one was also designed to fold up against the window so we can move it out of the way so we don’t bonk our legs if we’re walking back and forth to the pantry a lot.

Overall, I’d say these two hammocks were great purchases. The cats have been enjoying them and I think any cat owner knows that a cat using something you bought them (as opposed to the box it came in) is a victory.
