Crochet Placemats

We always host “Jeffsgiving” and it’s the one time of the year that I like to dress up the table. I’ve grown a bit tired of the gold and brown rectangle placemats we use every year so I decided to look into crocheting something new. I came across a design I liked on Nev_Design on Instagram and was delighted to find the Zincir Motifli Örgü Supla (Amerikan Servis) Yapımı tutorial (which Google translate indicates is “Chain Pattern Knitted Supla (American Service) Making”) on their YouTube page.

I grabbed some inherited scrap yarn and was able to work this sample up pretty quickly using English subtitles since the video is in Turkish. The finished item came out really nicely, but I’m not sure that it’s the one I’ll be choosing to move forward with for our Thanksgiving table. I still have a few other ideas to test out and I’ll be sure to share the outcome here later in 2023.
