Miss Owl
/My BFF, AZ, had baby #2 this summer and I was unable to attend her sprinkle due to living so far away. When baby #1 was born, I crocheted her Miss Monkey to go along with her monkey nursery theme. I had planned to make something for Baby #2, but I hadn’t decided exactly what to make. One day while talking to AZ on the phone, she informed me Baby #1 (now an adorable 5 year old - let’s call her PZ) had decided Baby #2 needed an owl to match Miss Monkey. How could I say no to that?
I set to work finding an owl pattern I liked and came across some really cute owls on Instagram by Emblebe Handmade, but couldn’t locate a pattern. As usual, I decided to take matters into my own hands and mash several things together into what I envisioned. I ended up using the Ollie the Owl pattern by Shauna Jared and was really pleased with how the owl came out (you can find all my project notes here on Ravelry). I was also really happy to discover I had leftover yarn in my stash from Miss Monkey, so that ensured that Miss Owl would match. So many wins here!
I got give Miss Owl to AZ last night and PZ thought she was great. I haven’t done a lot of crocheting in the last year and a half because I burned myself out, but this really reminded me how much joy I get out of creating little critters for the people I care about.
