The Gaia Top

I’ve completed another item designed by CrochetwithAlannaMiall - the Gaia top! As I mentioned in my previous post about the Nami top, I was able to find a fingering weight yarn at Michael’s in a solid color - Woolike from Loops & Threads in the purple colorway. I was pretty pleased with how this yarn worked up with the exception of random knots/joins in the middle of the skein. I sized up to a 5.0mm H hook due to my tight crocheting to attempt to make gauge and it worked out pretty well.

This was another easy to follow pattern with plenty of pictures to help along the way that resulted in a gorgeous finished top. There wasn’t anything I’d change about this top if I made it again since I was really happy with the solid color, the softness of the yarn, and the way the sizing turned out (though it might be fun to make another version with the sleeves - I just wasn’t feeling them for this first version). It seems like I need a subscription to get all of Alanna’s patterns since I like her style so much (in fact, the next item in my clothing crochet queue is her Nami dress pending finding more fingering weight yarn - Woolike is suspiciously out of stock everywhere).
