Nail Polish Cart

Some of my girlfriends and I enjoy having nail art parties on the weekends where we gather around my dining room table, turn on Spotify, and do our nails. I previously kept all my polishes and other nail art equipment in a three tiered Snapware storage container, but I have quickly outgrown that set up. Jeff suggested purchasing a rolling cart to make my nail art collection mobile so I could easily roll it from storage to the dining room when my friends come over.

We ended up buying an Ikea Nissafors utility cart and it fits just perfectly in an otherwise wasted space between the edge of my open office door and the closet. I like this since it has edges to prevent stuff from falling off and the three tiers help me keep similarly organized to my previous storage box. The shelves are arranged as follows:

  1. Top shelf: houses all my regular nail supplies and “potions” like cotton balls, sponges, acetone, polish thinner, brushes, files, etc. I used various existing containers I already had to organize these items.

  2. Middle shelf: holds all my stamping supplies (plates, scrapers, stampers), big brush sets, and shellac lamp. I’m not super happy with the organization on this shelf and will definitely be making some adjustments moving forward.

  3. Bottom shelf: stores all my shellac and regular nail polishes as well as my nail art mats. I purchased some “Jumbo Pack 4.2l Convenient container” storage boxes from Daiso that fit all bottle shapes of my nail polish collection while also fitting in the footprint of the bottom shelf nicely - these can stack three containers high. These containers helped me separate out my older nail polish collection, shellac, and now growing Holo Taco collection.

There was an empty spot on the wall above where this cart sits, so we also bought some shelves from Ikea to hold the Holo Taco collection boxes I’ve been purchasing. I refer to it as my Holo Taco shrine - I promise I’m not the only Holo Taco fan out there with one of these. It’s just a nice thing to look at as I enter my office. (It’s also the reason I’ve been crabby about some of the collection boxes not being the same size as the others - how dare I have to rearrange my shelves ha ha).
