Harvest Moon Pocket Shawl

Mom mentioned she had seen a pocket shawl she’d really like to have a few months ago. I pushed her to find a picture and sure enough it was one I had seen on Instagram from a designer I follow. I got straight to work on making her the Harvest Moon Pocket Shawl designed by Carrie M. Chambers of Crochet with Carrie. I had previously made her Summer Fruits tank top pattern with great success so I was certain this would turn out well.

I liked the color of the version on the website, so I went with two skeins of Lion Brand Pound of Love in the Umber colorway to be safe. I also sized up my hook to a 6.5 mm (K) to attempt to make gauge. The project took me just over two months to complete. I admit that the special stitches were a bit above my skill level, but with a little practice they became easy to do. I found cute little wooden heart buttons for the pockets at Joann’s and I think they were the perfect touch. I also omitted the fringe since Mom and I neither one are into it.

I am so incredibly pleased with how this shawl turned out. The texture is so neat and it just looks really nice. I delivered the finished product to Mom yesterday as a surprise and she was absolutely delighted. This is another project that is reminding me why I love crocheting in the first place - to delight those around me.
