Sunshine Calling
/I bought a treadmill at the beginning of the year in order to move more and I’m so thankful that past me did this since I had no idea we’d be in a long term stay at home order due to coronavirus. Lately I’ve been struggling with my regularly scheduled treadmill time - viewing it as a chore and something to just “get it over with.” I’ve also been fighting a seriously negative attitude all week and frankly it was annoying me that I couldn’t shake it.
Thankfully, something clicked yesterday - I traded my usual “treadmill + trash tv time” (I watch Catfish to distract myself while I walk) for “sunshine + steps + Spotify” (since here in WA we have been advised that going for a walk outdoors given proper social distancing is a low risk activity) and it really helped reset my brain and kick the negativity. The sunshine felt so good and it was so nice to get out of the house for a change.
Hope you are all continuing to stay well and take care of yourselves (physically, mentally, emotionally, whatever you need!). I’m going to keep trying to mix up my treadmill and outdoor walking time to help myself continue to move more (more important than ever with all the staying home) and manage my mood so negativity doesn’t drown me.
