Lumaze 2019
/My parents were able to come out for Thanksgiving this year and we all thought it’d be fun to do some holiday related activities. Lumaze kept showing up in my Instagram ads so I decided to check into it. My research revealed it’s an indoor holiday light display with a holiday market and food vendors at Smith Cove Cruise Terminal. This looked like it would be right up our alley. I bought tickets for December 1st at 4pm since that was within the window of time Mom and Dad were still here and also slightly cheaper than other dates (each ticket I purchased came out to $30.54 for reference).
When the day arrived, we arrived at Smith Cove Cruise Terminal and paid to park in their lot (this was $15). There were shuttles to take us from the parking lot to the terminal along with enclosed waiting stations that were decorated with lights. Upon exiting the shuttle, we entered the building and presented our tickets. The staff was friendly and presented us with a guide to the lights along with a passport of sorts that we could have stamped at each station along the way.
We enjoyed strolling through the lights, taking pictures, and acquiring stamps from the stations scattered throughout. The displays were really pretty and there were a ton of neat photo opportunities. Here are a few of the photos we took:
After we had thoroughly wandered through the lights, taken all the pictures, and completed our stamp passports for a candy cane reward, we headed to the holiday market and to check out the food vendors. There were quite a few food vendors with various offerings, but what surprised me was that most of them were food trucks that were parked inside the venue. That’s not something you see very often. We had eaten a late lunch, so we didn’t end up purchasing any food or drinks (even though the adult beverages looked pretty tasty). We continued on through the holiday market and I would rate it as just okay. I do admit to having pretty high expectations around such markets - especially when I expect them to be local. We didn’t purchase anything there either.
Overall I would rate this as a fun experience, but I’m not sure it justified the price per ticket plus parking since we spent just under an hour here. I think this was Lumaze’s first year in the greater Seattle area, so it’s possible that this experience will improve in coming years. I’d be open to visiting another indoor holiday light experience in the future regardless of it was Lumaze or another show.
