Holiday (Holoday?) Holo Taco

I enjoy watching various Youtubers in my free time, but one of my favorites is Simply Nailogical. My friend SC introduced me to this channel a few years ago and she could not have been more right about thinking that I would enjoy the content. The creator (Cristine) is an introvert who enjoys nail art just like me - what’s not to like?

Earlier this year she launched her own polish line called Holo Taco (a play on her love for holographic polish combined with early jokes around her pronunciation of top coat). I’m mainly a shellac girl because I can’t stand how quickly I ruin my nails when I use regular polish, but I could not resist buying some of the colors in the Holoday collection (in addition to a few things from her first collection).

These beauties arrived at my door just in time for me to wear them to Jeff’s work holiday party (and they matched my dress perfectly).

From left to right:

  • Peely Base

  • One Coat Black

  • Rainbow Snow

  • Midnight Spark

  • Play Rose

I ended up layering the Rainbow Snow and Midnight Spark between shellac base and top coats as an experiment. The end result was gorgeous polish that lasted over a week (closer to 2, but not quite the 2+ weeks that I can achieve when using only shellac). I think this is how I will be using these polishes in the future for fingernails.

I have also experimented with the Peely Base on both fingernails and toenails. It works great on my toenails, but I found that I was popping peelies within a day or so in regards to fingernails. That might be fine if I only want a design for a short period of time (or decided to swatch something), but I think I’ll be sticking to keeping Peely Base for toes unless I find a way to get to adhere to my fingernails better.
