Holo Taco Unicorn Skin
/Time for some nail art goodies! Simply Nailogical’s Holo Taco recently released a new line of toppers she deemed unicorn skin (more references to some of her older videos). They’re flakie top coats that change color based on lighting and the base color they’re painted over. I bought all three: Aurora, Cosmic, and Solar. They arrived and I was super excited based on how they look in the bottle.
Cristine has also been holding weekly nail art competitions via Holo Taco as something fun to do while staying home. I decided to participate in the second week’s theme: spring. Like I’ve said before, I don’t have a lot of luck keeping my nails painted with regular polish, so I mixed and matched shellac and regular polish. Here’s what I came up with:
Steps taken:
CND shellac base coat
2 coats of CND shellac color coat in Bicycle Yellow
1 coat of Holo Taco Solar Unicorn Skin
1 coat of CND Xpress5 top coat
Stamp using Lina Nail Art Supplies Make Your Mark 06 plate and purple stamping polish
Final coat of CND Xpress5 top coat
I don’t feel like the pictures do the unicorn skin justice - it is so pretty in real life. Overall, I’m really happy with how these came out. I was also pleased with how long they lasted given that mixing and matching shellac and regular polish isn’t always as “strong” as using only shellac. Happy nail art-ing!
