Stitch Fix #13 - February 2017

Another month, another "surprise me" fix from my lovely stylist, Melissa! What did she whip up for me this month? Read on to find out.

Seavees Monterey Lace-Up Sneakers - Kept

I was fairly certain I would never receive a pair of shoes in my monthly box since I have obnoxiously wide feet and finding shoes can be a real pain (except for Zappos... they're the best women's wide shoe source I've found). I was pleasantly surprised when I slipped these babies on and found that even though they aren't listed as wide width, they fit me well and are actually really comfortable! They're a lovely neutral color and will go with lots of things (especially if I wear more appropriate socks that I couldn't be bothered with in these photos), so keeping them was an easy choice.

Liverpool Cameryn Skinny Pant - Kept

Melissa picked these pants for me since they are similar in style to the Liverpool Elizabeth jeans I loved from a previous fix (and have worn a ton since receiving in August 2016) and are a fun color for spring/summer. I've been floating between two sizes in the pants department since November-ish and finally took a chance on updating my style profile to the smaller size, so I wasn't sure how these would fit when I pulled them out of the box. I was also a bit hesitant about the color. I pulled them on and fell in love since they fit just as nicely as the Elizabeths and are indeed a fun color. In my opinion, these jeans had only two downsides: lack of real pockets and a price slightly higher than I'd like. I have enough trouble finding pants I like that I decided I'm keeping them anyway.

Market & Spruce Lawford Knit Top - Returned

I was fairly divided on what to do with this top. I liked the color, stripes, length in general as well as sleeves, and especially the softness of the material. The V was cut a little too deep for my liking. I know I could fix that by layering over a cami, but I felt like that would detract from the soft material. I also didn't love the shape on me around my midsection. As much as I wanted to love and keep this for the soft material, I had to let it go.

Daniel Rainn Darrel Crochet Yoke Knit Top - Kept

I was half excited and half unsure about this top when I pulled it out of the box. I loved the crochet detail, but was a little weirded out by the pleats/folds down the middle. After trying it on, I decided the pleats/folds complimented the crochet part that I loved and that the whole thing had a nice shape on me. It turned out to be an easy keeper.

Pixley Francisco Mixed Material Top - Returned

When I first saw this top, I thought it looked pretty fun. I liked the mixed materials, cut out in the back, and length, though I would have preferred a different color/print combination on the front. When I tried it on, I discovered it was big and flowy around the middle. I received a medium (my normal size due to wide shoulders) and definitely could have done with a small. I considered exchanging for size, but wasn't sure it would fit the way I envisioned (less flowy and more nipped in at the waist) so I decided to skip it.

Final thoughts on this fix

This fix could not have shown up at a better time. After 3 weekends of someone being sick in this house (that's right, my sore throat cold thing lasted over 2 weeks), I needed something fun and exciting in my life. Melissa delivered another fun fix, as usual. I've said it before and I'll say it again - I love how she always sends me pieces with fun details (cut out in the back, crochet neckline, etc). She also anticipates my needs better than I do (neutral shoes, fun colored pants so I don't wear plain jeans all the time). Maybe she has a secret source into my closet, I don't know. I just love that she's making my wardrobe better one box at a time. :)
