More New To Us Food Spots

Jeff and I tried a few new to us food spots today, so I thought I’d post about them.

  1. Raised Doughnuts - I keep seeing this donut shop on Instagram and the flavors they post look so very tasty. They also have some good looking cakes. We showed up right around opening and there was a line, but it moved pretty quickly. We bought a box of donuts and one slice of each of their two cake specials (matcha black sesame and cookie butter + jelly). The doughnuts were consumed immediately out of the back of our car and we took the cake slices home for later. The flavors were decent, but the doughnuts were a bit on the small side compared to others in the area. I felt similarly about the slices of cake when we ate them later in the day. I think we’d go here again if we were nearby, but we would not make a special trip since there are other doughnut shops we like more on the East side. Overall, this place has great Instagram vibes, but didn’t quite live up to our high expectations.

  2. Sandwich House Tres - This is a spot crafting Japanese sandwiches that came recommended by RN. There was a decent line when we arrived, but it didn’t take us very long to move through. The selection was great and I liked that everything was out and easy to see (the only problem was my own decision paralysis). We purchased 4 sandwiches (egg salad, yakisoba, banana cream pie, and creamy sesame chicken) and a coffee jelly. All the sandwiches were good, but the yakisoba and banana cream pie were the winners in my book. Jeff really liked the coffee jelly, but it was too strong for my taste. We’d definitely go back and mix up our selections.
